The Kipling Backpack Thief!

Amy once again had the pleasure to work with local playwright William Hector as he continued to develop his new play, The Kipling Backpack Thief. Amy previously worked on this play as an actor in a developmental reading back in June. This time, she directed two performances of the piece with two separate casts.

Amy had a blast playing a secretary in the ensemble of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at the Pembroke Pines Theatre of Performing Arts. The show ran from Oct 27--Nov 19th, 2017. 

Speech & Debate

Amy was excited to work with a new south Florida company, Back Row Theatre, on their 3rd production--Stephen Karam's Speech & Debate. Amy played the roles of Teacher and Reporter for this limited engagement run. 

The Secret of the Biological Clock

For the South Florida Theatre League's Summer Theatre Fest, Amy directed a reading of Andie Arthur's play The Secret of the Biological Clock, in collaboration with Lost Girls Theatre. 

An Evening with Robert Schenkkan

Following CityWrights, City Theatre had the pleasure to host Pulitzer winning playwright, Robert Schenkkan. City Theatre will be producing his new play Building the Wall as part of a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere. Amy had the pleasure of meeting with and speaking to Mr. Schenkkan on our upcoming production of his play.

CityWrights 2017!

Amy planned and executed the 7th annual CityWrights Weekend for Playwrights. This is the 3rd conference she's been a part of while working with City Theatre, and the 2nd she's planned. This year's guest playwrights included Steve Yockey, Chisa Hutchinson, R. Eric Thomas, Susan Miller, and several Summer Shorts Playwrights, as well as keynote speaker Nan Barnett and many more! Amy was honored to host these guests and more on behalf of City Theatre, and alongside an amazing staff and group of interns.

Summer Shorts 2017 Kickoff Fundraiser!

With the City Theatre team, Amy planned and organized a fundraiser kickoff event for City Theatre's 22nd season. The event took place at the Park Grove residences, hosted by the Related Group and Terra Group. The evening was lucrative and enjoyable, with featured performances from upcoming programming. 

If You're an Orange, I'm an Orange

Amy played the role of Stella in a one-night presentation of If You're an Orange, I'm an Orange by M.J. Fievre with Compositum Musicae Novae, Miami's collective of musicians and literary, visual, and stage artists. The piece also featured Robert Fritz and was directed by Gladys Ramirez. 

Ft. Lauderdale FRINGE Festival!

Amy produced and directed two plays for the Ft. Lauderdale Fringe Festival. The Gift by Ean Miles Kessler and String Theory by Paige Nicole Belcher. Featuring Robert Fritz, Yasmin Adli, and Bobby Eddy. 

Audience & Protest

Amy had the pleasure to stage manage and assistant direct Mad Cat Theatre Company's production of Vaclav Havel's Audience and Protest. She worked alongside directors Paul Tei and Theo Reyna. 

South Florida #1MPF

Amy directed the "Trump Clump" for the 3rd annual South Florida One Minute Play Festival. She had the pleasure to collaborate with almost 100 local actors, directors, and playwrights on this community response project. 

The Christmas Carol

Amy partnered with her home theatre company and Books & Books cafe for a reading of four spooky short plays. She read for various roles in plays by City Theatre favorites Steve Yockey, Lia Romeo, and more! 

No Good Burgers in Mexico

Amy directed the short play No Good Burgers in Mexico for Micro Theatre Miami, the staple South Florida theatre company that puts on short plays inside shipping containers. 

Stages of the Sun

Amy directed readings of two short play for the South Florida Theatre League's Summer Theatre Fest. This reading, called Stages of the Sun, closed out the festival. Amy directed String Theory by Paige Belcher and The Gift by Ean Kessler. 

CityWrights 2016!

A major component of Amy's role at City Theatre is planning and executing the CityWrights Weekend for Playwrights, a 4-day conference for playwrights from around the country to learn and create together. CityWrights 2016 featured masterclasses with Tony-Winner Greg Kotis (Urinetown), Tony-Nominee Amanda Green (Hands on a Hardbody, High Fidelity), theatre historian Jennifer Ashley Tepper, Georgia Stitt, and Dominic D'Andrea.

Amy began her journey here, graduating from the University of Florida. She majored in English and minored in Women's Studies. Her coursework focused on Shakespeare, Modern Drama, and British Literature with a lot of explorative electives mixed in. Before graduating she began working with City Theatre, where she now works as the Literary & Programs Manager. She continues to learn and seek betterment post-grad, and hopes use her educational background to become a better actor and director. She's looking forward to auditioning for graduate school acting programs to continue to hone the craft.
